In a second segment, 10TV (WBNS) in Columbus introduced viewers to Jon Bennehoof, a Vietnam veteran who served three tours and carried the dreams and night fright home with him for more than five decades. Therapy helped and he spent years volunteering for other veterans, but the memories stayed, until he tried eTMS, or electroencephalogram transcranial magnetic stimulation. Dr. Jeff Morris, who oversees the treatment, told reporter Stacia Naquin that disruptions in brain wave activity are associated with sleep problems, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress, and that the changes he sees in patients can be “truly transformational.” Bennehoof said his family noticed the difference first. His message to other veterans who are struggling was simple: “Don’t be prideful. Don’t be ashamed.” The course runs about 15 minutes a day, 20 treatments over four weeks, and is available at no cost to eligible veterans, first responders and law enforcement officers in Ohio through the eTMS Ohio portal.
