eTMS Ohio Featured on 10TV: Veteran Finds Relief From Trauma

The eTMS program in Ohio was featured by 10TV (WBNS) in Columbus in a report on veterans and first responders finding relief from the trauma that follows them home from the job. Reporter Stacia Naquin spoke with Joe Smith, a former Marine who now investigates internet crimes against children, about the heavy drinking, poor sleep and quick temper he had come to accept as normal. After a course of eTMS, or electroencephalogram transcranial magnetic stimulation, Smith told 10TV that his nightmares stopped, that he began sleeping six to eight hours a night, and that his cravings for alcohol faded. Dr. Jeff Morris, who oversees the treatment in Ohio, described eTMS as a non-invasive, painless approach that uses magnets to reorganize brain waves disrupted by trauma, delivered in about 15 minutes a day across 20 treatments over four weeks. The segment also noted that the State of Ohio now makes the treatment available at no cost to eligible veterans, first responders and law enforcement officers, who can apply through the eTMS Ohio portal.
